OTR Supersprint Announces Community Grid Walk Ambassadors

OTR Supersprint Announces Community Grid Walk Ambassadors

The three-day OTR Supersprint returns to The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend, but with a big difference.

OTR’s community giving initiative, OTRGive, will be represented on the track, with their new ‘Community Grid Walk Ambassadors’ taking over the role of the traditional grid girls on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 August.

The innovative community giving initiative launched by OTR in 2018 has seen almost 30,000 members link to OTRGive through the OTR App, raising over $140,000 for 24 South Australian charities including Foodbank SA, Make-A-Wish, Canteen, Anglicare SA and Hutt St Centre. For a full list of charities, please see the editor’s note below.

Each of OTRGive’s 24 community partners will be represented on the grid by the race-going public who support those charities via the OTR App. 24 lucky OTR customers will fly the flag for their favourite charity – including the Royal Flying Doctors Service, Guide Dogs SA/NT, and KickStart for Kids – at their exclusive on-track experience as a Community Grid Walk Ambassador.

OTR’s Head of Community Partnerships & PR, Joann Skene, said, “This is a great opportunity for our race-loving OTRGive supporters to experience the thrill of Supercars in a different way. Our winners will proudly walk out on the track in support of a charity close to their heart, in an exclusive experience that money can’t buy!”

Each OTRGive Community Grid Walk Ambassador will accompany the V8 Supercars Race Drivers on track, prior to the main Supercars race on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Joann Skene says that the inaugural Community Grid Walk Ambassadors are the first of more to come, “We anticipate that this will be an ongoing tradition for OTR Supersprint and OTRGive. What better way to bring community back into motorsport than flying the flag for your favourite charity in front of a national audience!”

The Community Grid Walk Ambassadors will walk out in front of a national televised audience, and in front of Supercars greats including Scott McLaughlin, Mark Winterbottom, and The Bend Motorsport Park’s inaugural V8 race winners, Shane Van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup.

OTR CEO Warren Wilmot said, “OTRGive is such an important initiative that is helping community groups across South Australia receive much-needed funds to continue their incredible work. We encourage our OTR customers to link to the OTRGive program via the OTR App. Not only will that help us keep growing donations, but they will be offered more exclusive experiences such as this. It’s our goal to contribute as much as possible so that this uncapped program can continue making a real difference to the community.”
