NSW’s Favourite Bush Retreat for Family Retreats and Romantic Getaways

Ruwenzori is a secluded, self-contained, bush retreat near the food and wine-lover's paradise of Mudgee, in Central West NSW. A life-long labour of love, it is the weekend hideaway of TV personality and rail enthusiast Scott McGregor.

Retreats along the Great Dividing Range at Mudgee

Perched high on the Great Dividing Range, Ruwenzori boasts sweeping views and is surrounded by 25 hectares of native bush, offering absolute peace and privacy. Living and sleeping in converted 100-year-old railway carriages - decorated in Orient Express style luxury - guests are provided with self-contained accommodation for up to 12 people, suiting couples, families and groups of friends. And as the retreat is single-hire, you won't be sharing with anyone else.

Spend your days exploring the bush trails where granite boulders rise high above a wide variety of flora and an abundance of wildlife. Take a wine tour, have dinner catered, have fun in the Station Museum games room or just relax reading a book in the hammock or sipping wine on the veranda, gazing out at this truly magical place.

One of the most perfect NSW romantic getaways and family retreats

The Ruwenzori retreat is a secluded paradise, nestled in the rolling hills of the wine region. Staying in century-old railway carriages, you and your guests will experience historical lodgings with all the modern luxuries, fully equiped kitchen, ?under floor heating, TV and DVD's, marble bathrooms, fine linen and bedding and beautiful antique furniture and fittings. It provides all the nooks you need to unwind, check-out and relax.

Upon stepping out, you’ll be treated to cottage-style gardens and pristine views. Walk a little further and you’ll be able to take a bushwalk on our very own property, experiencing the sweeping bush views and native flora that makes Ruwenzori special.
